I've said this on the BRS forum, CWL may now not be able to compete with BRS for European flights, however should the Welsh Government gain the tax powers & abolish APD then CEL can surely capitalise on the long haul flights.

This could quite easily (and hopefully) lead to NYC or the Middle East which the area and notably CWL need !!!

Far more exciting than a NWI flight !!

Fingers crossed
Unlikely, CWL is too close to LHR and BHX to support daily year-round longhaul. Shorthaul is probably the way forward.

Could a daily B757 be filled to NYC or a daily B777 to DXB? Maybe the A321-NEO would be the best option if APD is abolished.
Seasonal NYC (and YYZ) possibly; DXB, not a chance.

Presence or absence of APD unlikely to make a difference. If APD is scrapped, the carrier may need that portion of the fare to make it pay.

A321 Neo or B757 to NYC be a good start...not sure a daily frequency though ? YYZ be also a good reappearance on the departure board too....Air Canada Rouge ? West Jet ?
Yes, possibly, but not daily and maybe seasonal?

Ideally for the Middle East.....Emirates, Etihad, Qatar or even Turkish Airlines, I'm sure CWL management are on the case especially if APD gets dissolved.
Don't see it.

And hopefully the return of long haul charters.....MCO or SFB, POP and CUN ? TOM or TCX.
That makes more sense than Mideast, again probably seasonal.

It's just gut feeling. The more that works at CWL, the better (obviously).

Could be completely wrong of course, so please feel free to pull apart.
