Higherplane and other info.

Welcome to the wonderful world of EASA, which has taken over from JAR. Things are in a state of flux at the moment, but there is help at hand. As well as the above-mentioned CAP 804, there is a lot of useful stuff on Irv Lee’s website Higherplane. Irv does a good job of filtering the important stuff and trying to keep an expanding flock of pilots legal. One day he will retire to something easier, like herding cats….

I suspect you will need to get your Ratings (SEP etc.) revalidated. You Licence (JAR 5 Yr.) should convert automatically to EASA on the next renewal. The good news is that EASA is back to being a lifetime licence, like the old ‘poo brown’ CAA PPL.

I guess your FAA ticket will need a BFR / IPC to be back up to speed. According to Irv’s info, you can use that to fly EASA aircraft until April 2016.

You have CPLs so the above assumes there are PPL, or equivalent privileges, underlying the licences and that is the sort of flying you are considering. Being a humble PPL, the CPL world is above my pay-grade, so not much useful info on that side of things.

Safe Flying,
WKW
