Railway station works completed on schedule and train services running as normal from yesterday. Platform works not complete but the trackwork, wiring and signalling is done. Platform will probably be in use around the time of the timetable change in mid May - will we then see an hourly Chester and North Wales service?
Plenty of advance publicity of the works at stations across the North including on the PIDS at stations and on trains as well as in the media.
Every 15 minutes shuttle bus running from Piccadilly station direct to the Airport - at least 4 50 seater coaches available for each departure. Plenty of staff at either end to guide passengers. On train announcements approaching Piccadilly on trains that would normally go on to the Airport informing passengers of the arrangements.
Well handled from my observations and experience. No sign of the chaos predicted by the MEN when the work was announced some months ago
The project is an important part of the Manchester train hub and will enhance capacity across the North and improve the access to the Airport.
