Someone has to fly the aircraft and keep it within the envelop. Had they not stalled although a crash was inevitable more people would have survived
Big words, bigpants. It looked to me they were stretching the glide to avoid an even worse outcome. Doing a nice descent at best glide speed isn't much good if you smack into a highrise or into the middle of a bridge.
