With capacity constrained at LHR and an expanding domestic feed a few of us have been banging on about preclearance.

Makes perfect sense. You're right to have been "banging on about preclearance". It's a big advantage for DUB.

However, it must not become so sucessful that the viability of direct flights from BFS, BRS, BHX, EDI, GLA, MAN and soon NCL are threatened. People need choice.

Interesting that article doesn't refer to APD as far as I could see.
Perhaps, because a 24 hour minimum stay in Dublin is required to avoid long haul APD.


The minimum connect time EI to EI is 75 mins. Personally I think that is a bit tight as the preclearance facilities at DUB can get quite busy. Even so it's a great product, and I really don't know why MAN isn't making more rapid progress on becoming the first UK airport to offer preclearance.
Yes, Ringway would be ideal for pre-clearance!
