pkboeing, The first batch of 2011 which was sent for type rating (in June/July 14) came back in August 2014, the next batch came back in September 2014. Till Oct-Nov 2014 one batch was being sent to UK every two months for type rating . If Jet wanted they could have started with supernumeraries and LOFT of the first batch in August itself, but they did not. Same goes for every other batch that returned from UK, they were all put on hold. The reason for this as far as I know is because Jet has been facing a shortage of trainers, this point was mentioned in the DGCA audit that had taken place around the same time as well.
So as you can see for yourself, it is not that it takes too long to train a CPL holder for a type rating, the problem here is that it is taking Jet too long to place the type rated guys online. Jet may be short of captains but as far as first officers are concerned they don't seem to be facing a shortage or else they would have fixed this problem a long time ago.
