Actually, I take back what I said about the 250 hours on type rule still being enforced. It is no longer as 'stringent' as it was before since a new Deputy Director of Aircraft Operations at the DGCA has taken over the job.
It seems to be easier now, but with the request coming from the airline itself directly to the Director.
