I disagree with the stobart remark. They were effectively forced out by Ryanair. One aircraft bases are not cost effective so it was shut completely.

Shannon defaintly has a strong year round market for New york, it already has United doing 12 months a year of flights, maybe Aer Lingus didn't see promising margins so it never tried it.

But I do agree, this new management are a bit naive. Pulling in 8 new services from Ryanair is something any airport can do, keeping them is another thing. The chair-person of the SAA, Rosa Hynes, is also a chair-person of the corrupt Irish water. Not good to hear. Neil Palkley has good talk, but I haven't seen him do much. He seems the only realistic person in the airport and realises that the airport needs to maintain services as well as getting them.

The greatest shambles is not having any Scottish access and little access to anywhere in the UK outside london.
