To make it work ex MAN I suspect IAG would need to buy flybe and use them to feed a longhaul operation.
Why would you need to buy them, simply put a codeshare on their flights. Flybe already successfully codeshare with AF, VS, TP, CX, EY, AY to name a few. I'm sure they'll be happy to add a BA code too.
