There are many instances of the gear warning horn not being heard or not working. There seems to be two additional backup warning systems on the market. Both use a spoken warning through the pilots headset which is better that a horn. One uses airspeed and gear up to trigger the alarm
P2 Audio Advisory System and the other uses a ground sensing transducer.
