I know one person who joined Tiger less than 5 months ago, so they have been recruiting this year.
2015 will be another year of changes at Virgin Australia. think those who are saying the growth will be at VARA will be wrong. With the plan to integrate the ATR's within VA, VARA's (A320, F100 and F50) growth will slow or perhaps stop. Yes there will be more ATR's and the need for more pilots, but this will be done under VAA AOC. On top of this, VANZ will be gone and VAI will have an expanded B737 fleet operating the old VANZ routes.
So those looking at joining VAA, I see the future entry points via the ATR, B777 CRFO or VAI B737 (New Zealand) based.
For those worried about getting a command, it's a very strong possibility that your first command at VAA will be on the ATR. Yes itz's nice to have a command on a jet, but it's not the end if the world if you don't get one. There are FO's on the B777, A330 and even the B737, that make just about the same money as an Ejet Captain without all the responsibility. In fact a couple of Ejet Captains gave up their commands for FO slots on the B777 and they say they being a B777 FO is far better than being an Ejet Captain.
