If I remember correctly, Class D replaced the U.K.'s 'Special Rules Airspace' and the mnemonic for that was 'COLO'........

CONTACT the relevant ATC Unit.
OBTAIN permission to enter the airspace,
LISTEN out on the appropriate ATC frequency.
OBEY instructions issued by ATC.
