Future of DSA

I've just been looking at the passenger statistics for DSA this year and so far and to my bewilderment 700 MP have been handled so far. This implies that DSA has done better than in 2012 and 2013 (693 million for 2013 I believe)

This made me think hard about the future development and growth for the airport. As we all know it has great facilities for future airlines much better than LBIA for example (parallel taxiway, superior runway length/arrangement etc)

With the HS2 rail coming into place in the 2020/2030's Doncaster will be in a 1hr and 10 minute attaining distance from London. Transiting from Doncaster train station to DSA can be reached in less than 30 minutes via the Doncaster bus interchange, taxi and car. This did really make me think.

The terminal can currently handle 2.5 million pax so what does this imply? Good facilities, good transport links and overall it’s in a good location.
With London’s airports almost being over capacitated and a significant demand for a new super hub airport can’t DSA be that airport? Thinking about it logically, it will be in easy reaching distance from the south. Domestic/connecting flights can be enforced and it will save billions of tax payers money in developing a brand new airport for example in the Thames Estuary. It will be less distance than flying or commuting via rail to Manchester and also with Sheffield, Leeds and Wakefield being commercialised trading cities, there could be business passenger demand for Scheduled flights from the north as well as the south.

It’s perhaps me over thinking this but do you guys think there’s some potential here?
