No visa or TSA issues, but you will need an FAA certificate, either through the TC-FAA reciprocity agreement or FAR 61.75.

If you want to do the full FAA syllabus (which is unnecessary) then you will have to go through the whole visa and TSA process but it isn't necessary since you already hold a Canadian license.

You just need to get an FAA class 3 medical (which probably can be done in Canada. Just search the FAA database for AME's in your city) and you will have to take the FAA Canadian conversion knowledge test for private pilot airplane. Take your test results, medical, and Canadian docs to the FAA FSDO (with an appointment of course) and you'll get an FAA private pilot certificate. Whole thing shouldn't run you more than $300 (for the knowledge test and medical).
