Thanks for the replies. The flight planning section in the AIP talks about airspace restrictions for flight planning with when certain areas are active as well as procedure requirements for certain ALAs. The CAR 1988, 241 is a bit vague stating that the AIP can specify certain classes of flight to submit flight plans etc. I'm trying to get my head around this. I normally submit a flight notification anywhere I go unless it's local. I know it enhances your chances of getting a prompt clearance into CTR Airspace, but would like to know the black and white legal requirments of when you MUST submit a flight plan. Does a jaunt around the local area with a landing at two local fields in class G within 50nm require a flight plan?

With regard to the iPhone app, that's useful information about the route description. I was having issues with the iPhone submission too. Thanks.
