Diversions
Following Southend's last major diversion opportunity for LCY 29/10 when only 2 actual diverts could be handled before it was "Full" - FLYBE additionally re-scheduled a few flights into and back out with their pax bussed from LCY, todays performance has been very much better throughout the day. i made it 14 LCY commercial diverts plus the business flights mentioned above.
STN got about 10 and tonight LGW about 4 so SEN came off best.
Whilst diverts maybe a pain for some major airports who are generally very busy with their own traffic, Southend needs all of the flights it can get these quiet days as the diversion revenue is very important for the bottom line. On today's performance, i assume the core handling staff needed for the scheduled traffic successfully handled these diverts as well.
interestingly, as before, FLYBE re-scheduled some of their later flights this afternoon into Southend, bussing the pax from LCY for the return flights back home. A smart move considering the number of cancellations at LCY all day.
