Burns & Laird operated Adrossan to Belfast with the ro/ro passenger ferry LION which entered service in 1967, the company was taken over by P&O Ferries in 1975 and the service stopped a year later on 20th February 1976, LION was then transferred to the main P&O fleet operating from Dover to Boulogne for P&O Normandy Ferries.
