Years ago one employer had a campaign offering monetary rewards for whomever came up with the best idea for reducing costs in a particular area...I duly submitted one, but shortly was castigated by a manager for "complaining, just accept it for how it is and do your job"...shortly thereafter it became his idea, and was implemented...not sure if it won the cash, but it made it abundantly clear that suggestions were not welcome...
