The politics is that the state is propping up a failing/failed business in competition against two other profitable and solvent ones, with no realistic possibility of turning it around. A view of the "report" from last week shows how desperate things are, it was predicated on a postion pre Ryanair's semi-departure.
No sensible person now believes that PIK is a viable business going forward, if the taxpayer wasn't chucking wonga at it, it would close. It has no USP nowadays aside from main deck cargo and that's an industry on it's a***.
