Never let the facts get in the way of bias.
There were plenty of staff last night and they were disappointed they couldn't take more diversions. The fact is all the stands were full or needed to be kept vacant awaiting scheduled arrivals. When SEN takes LCY diversions there is a good chance that they will sit there all night causing potential problems with the early a.m. scheduled arrivals next morning.
December 2006 is not a fair comparison as it was an extreme event and SEN was taking diversions over almost a 24 hour period with many of those rapidly departing freeing up ramp space. The majority were bizjets so they could be parked on maintenance aprons etc. - you can't do that nowadays with commercial flights.
