With United posting a $ 1.1 billion 3rd quarter profit I think they will stick with ORD for at least 2 more years, in fact I think that they will start seasonal IAH within 2 years cementing UA as the main TATL from EDI.
There's a reason they posted a profit, and it's not because they keep running flights that are less than full. I hope ORD sticks around, but from what I hear the loads are poor, and it's unlikely. IAH is extremely unlikely, they would need to use a 767/787 to operate such a flight, and if ORD is struggling, then so would IAH. Those aircraft would be far better deployed on flights to Europe where there's more demand.
