Well, IOS 8.1 now out, and I still have the same issue that I posted earlier -
Does anyone know how to stop iPad/iPhone from auto-downloading IOS updates.
Spending some time in the Falklands, it is an issue, as our internet there costs close to £100 a month for a monthly limit of about 5 Gb. Over that limit, it costs up to 10p/Mb (depending on exact package) (yes - that is £100 per Gb ), so an unasked for surprise update when you are close to the monthly limit could be VERY expensive.
Have looked online but every reference I can find just says "that's the way it is, you can't stop it except by switching wi-FI off or loading your device close to full so that it doesn't have room for the download"
I went to the Apple Store today and had a chat with one of their "Genius" advisers, but they said they cannot solve my problem, "we are just local technicians and don't have all the answers".......
So, does anyone here have any suggestions? I find it hard to believe that there is not a way to disable this function.
