I dont know if the situation remains the same but when I joined many many moons ago I was already rated on the Shed but I had no plans on moving on, as I was interested on moving up to the 146, which I did. I think there was some sort of bond which I signed. This was irrelevant as I stayed a fair few years anyway.
Things do change ( Management)
which is one of the reasons I left. I believe Da Management has changed again though but
afaik it is still a bond of sorts, as Q400 ratings are not that common in UK, so niche market and all that really.
Good luck with it, you will certainly get loads of interesting flying, which at the end of the day is why we are all in this profession in the first place.
There are still some excellent trainers there but unfortunately a few Tossers too, thankfully not that many though
