Auntie Beeb is broadcasting Dylan Thomas's "Under Milk Wood" on Radio 4 at this very moment, and the mellifluous tones of Richard Burton are just leading appreciative listeners into the alliterative, onomatopoeic, bizarre and marvellous world of that inspired but sadly drink-flawed genius ...

The musical cadences of delightfully Welsh-accented English are once again bringing Willy-Nilly postman, Mrs Ogmore-Pritchard, Organ Morgan, Captain Cat, the Reverend Eli Jenkins, Polly Garter, Dai Bread, and all of the other weird and wonderful creations of that brilliant son of Wales (who, I was astonished to discover, couldn't actually speak Welsh!), and entertaining the many listeners who, like me, savour the free-flowing tide of freely associated ideas. Bliss!
