Peter Gibson, corporate communication manager for the Civil Aviation Safety Authority, said the pilot had broadcast a mayday call, reporting engine failure, around 12.30pm.
At the time, the pilot and his Cessna 206 was reportedly around the Wombeyan Caves area - around 60 kilometres from where the plane was found, on the outskirts of the national park near Touga.
Mr Gibson said the pilot had suffered only minor injuries.
