Indeed MKY this, if it is true, will be very well received in GIB, although with fury in Madrid. No doubt there will be usual border shut down to coincide with the first flight, as that`s the juvenile way they think
Ordinarily the Gib routes could and should be marketed in Spain as an alternative to Jerez and the frantically busy Malaga, for the areas to both east and west of the Campamento, by the airlines, but they know the repercussions from the Spanish would`nt be worth it so they don`t.Sadly still one hand tied behind their back on this route but I wish them well.
They just need to sort out the new airport out there. Outstanding for arrivals, especially as you can now pick up a Spanish registered hire car outside the terminal building.Departures are a different story, they have replaced the previously wonderful security people who showed how it should be done with a load of contractors from a Spanish firm who are both incompetent and unfriendly. The new departure lounge and catering facility is overwhelmed if any more than 2 full jets are parked outside.
That said its still a better experience than most other places, but the old terminal was special
