Don't confuse a HOT fast start with a HOT start. A good start is one where the start is up to GI in 25 -30 seconds without exceeding any start temp. limits!
Most FCU's have sufficient adjustment range to achieve this as long as a properly charged battery is used.
This is especially important on C20R powered helicopters as the inertia of the engine is higher that the C20B/J and you need all the power you can get from the battery. That is why the C20R powered Bell 206B and L's have heavier starter cables due to higher amperage during starts.
Hot SLOW starts on the other hand are a pretty good sign that you have already burnt off part of the N1 turbine wheels!
