Prince Charles turns up for an official visit to Wigan and is shown round by the Mayor. He’s wearing his best shiny buttoned blazer but on his head he’s got a big hat made from red fur. Eventually the Mayor’s curiosity gets the better of him and he asks the Prince why he’s wearing this strange headgear. ‘Well,’ says Charles. ‘I told mummy I was going to Wigan and she said, “Wigan, Wigan, Wear the fox hat”.’
