Easyjet are scoring high across their network in terms of load factors. This combined with their yield management formula is their criteria for successful markets. I fear if this was not achievable we would see them deploy the aircraft elsewhere, to achieve a more attractive return for their business.

While it is easy to blame easyJet for cannibalising the market, let's suggest that they hadn't come to IOM. Most likely Flybe would still be on some London route as it would be attractive to do so. I don't believe the numbers would be any better than they are today, the fares wouldn't be any lower. Albeit, more jobs local job would be true.

The wider issue here is what will IOM government do to drive tourism, business travel alone will not sustain air travel, growth in leisure travellers is not happening. Relying on easyJet to drive tourism is not enough.

The question is about sustainability. If easyjet or any other airline for they matter can not fill a reasonable amount of the seats and Collect a respectable fare they won't stick around ... Costs are too high eg fuel and other more attractive markets exist , sun destinations etc.
