I'm just going to give this thread a bit of a boost from the archive, and place a vote for Roserrow. It's just across the water from St Mawgan. A nice and interesting field for strip pilots to visit.
The food in the golf club/health club is far, far better than "good pub".
It's also about a mile's scenic walk to the beach: a very popular place too!
Request for a PPR slot from the health club.
-My advice would be to act politely. They aren't flyers, and just log expected arrivals in a book. They aren't being restrictive if they say they can't take you at 11:00. It just means that they've written someone else down for that half hour slot. They've just run out of lines in the book. The rest of it is just so chilled, it really is all down to you.
-The other thing is to politely avoid approaches over the barns at the end of the field. That can be awkward, but do a curved approach like at Popham. The You tube video shows a straight in approach (naughty).
