Testicular cancer
Hi everyone, Apologies if this has been talked about before but from what i can see it hasn't. Anyway, I was hoping someone could give me some information about pilots with a Class 1 Medical who potentially are diagnosed with Testicular cancer?
I was looking at the CAA Requirements and see it mentions a variety of Cancer's and the process that goes on after being diagnosed in terms of getting the license back.
Obviously cancer in this area should not affect other areas, Lungs, heart, liver etc provided it is caught early and is only found in the one area. I know that any surgery undertaken must be notified to CAA at gatwick but if for example, A pilot needed to have a testicle removed which may or may not end up being diagnosed as cancer, will he lose the Class 1 medical still or will they allow him to continue flying(whether commercial or private) providing it had not spread into other areas and there were no further complications from the procedure. Obviously there must be sufficient recovery time after any procedure to ensure no health complications or problems.
I apologise if anyone finds any of this inappropriate but its something i wanted to learn more about after reading through the requirements and after finding a lack of information online. If anyone could spare a few thoughts that would be greatly appreciated, Many thanks!
