Hi,
"One problem (of the many problems) with this kind of witness accounts is the speed of sound. "
Indeed!, we are taking seriously the "noise" and filtering it.
Real bangs of jet engines are usually caused by compressor stalls and are extremely rare in modern turbofan powerplants.
And this model has FADEC.
An "afterburner-effect" due to unburnt fuel religting inside the exhaust pipe is not possible with the geometry of a Citation XLS engine.
I would ask about. Thank you for this comment. Important to our analysis.
And even a total "explosion" (or uncontained engine failure) can only reduce the thrust and never increase it.
Discussing today we imagined another scenario: Contained engine failure on #2, #1 flamed out and veering to right. But in this case a pitch up would happen. A subsequent (light?) stall, startling effect (human factors) and LOC.
Please, comment on that.
Your assertive comments reinforces the LOC scenario due human error but, what if the thunder was a fact? We can not disregard it. Was heard by many. Also fire was reported.
Before impact.
Mac
PS
A key eyewitness saw clearly aileron commanded before nearby building. Will send the picture from top of this edification.
