Hi,

"Then you don't appreciate how quickly the C560 XL /XLS/ XLS+ is capable of accelerating from normal APPROACH speed?"

I assume you understood, 200 Kias, Ok? The dive likely started after port (2~3 secs later)

The plane was sighted in a PSN nearby Santos port. After analyzing the area map we can estimate where it made the left turn. It's possible a LOC during this maneuver, i agree. The speed could be around 200 Kias. But, the interlock should fail to allow flaps retraction. (e.g. by incorrect speed measurement)

Please refer to the area map. How it could be sighted there if climbing as per ECHO1? It sounds like it was roughly at or even below MDA at this specific Santos port region.

There are clues it was not performing as per ECHO1!

"Nor do you know what speed the approach was actually being flown at."

I think we can say it was flying below 150 Kts at MAPt.

Question: Usage of VDP or just MDA?

Mac

PS

"we doubt could be at this speed range before diving." say, 200 Kias, ok?

Again: Video frame analysis could tell a lot on a/c speed before diving.
