Riverside County sheriff’s helicopter crash

HEMET: Minor injuries in sheriff's helicopter crash (UPDATE)

This got my attention as the colours and colour scheme are identical to those on my machines when I had them! The accident sounds as if there could be interviews without tea and biscuits....

A Riverside County sheriff’s helicopter crashed Thursday morning on a runway at the northeast end of Hemet-Ryan Airport, but no one was seriously injured, officials said.
The crash occurred during a low-flying training exercise, sheriff’s spokesman Albert Martinez said.
The two deputies aboard suffered minor injuries and were taken to a local hospital as a precaution, Martinez said.
Their names were not released.
The A-Star helicopter did not collide with another aircraft, he said.
“As soon as it happened, they (rescuers) weren’t able to ask them questions about exactly what they were doing,” Martinez said. “They were transported to the hospital, so that (what happened) will come out later on.”
The Federal Aviation Administration was called in to investigate.
The helicopter rolled over while its pilot was practicing landing with a simulated engine power outage, FAA spokesman Ian Gregor said.
The helicopter was lying on its left side after the 11 a.m. crash, with the tail rotor snapped off.
Hemet firefighters sprayed foam on the wreckage, which did not ignite, while Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department rescuers treated the victims.
