The four extra services a week to the Americas accounts for about 5400 hours per year which is just over one airframe. Personally I don't see one of the Narita services going to daylight as the business people prefer the night sector. The big problem with increased utilisation of the 380 and 747 to 14/14.5 hours a day is two fold. Firstly the 747 has provided the backup to the 380 when it breaks down secondly to get this sort of daily utilisation reliably you need massive engineering and spare parts support. Qantas has neither. I predict that this will end in tears for Qantas with delays everywhere that will flow thru for days, unless they decide to keep an additional 747 or two.
