Age is not the sole arbiter for retiring an aircraft from the fleet.
You are right Ken, however, to retire aircraft prematurely does incur significant penalty. In this case, it has been deemed that continuing to operate a small fleet of B767's is more expensive than premature disposal. Personally, I don't get how replacing a twin aisle, comfortable, economic aircraft with 255 seats & huge passenger appeal with single aisle, cramped, economic aircraft with 170+ seats & lousy passenger appeal is considered a smart move.
787 deliveries on hold
griffin one, you (& others) keep referring to B787 deliveries when the fact is, there are only 14 of them on order (for J*) - there are no orders or options for mainline. The order book for mainline stands at only three more B737's to be delivered with no more wide-body's planned (especially no more A380's).
