I thought that was standard on all types.
It is, at least on Boeing.
I am hesitant to just go ahead and try this on the CF-6 engine I am operating these days.
Not sure why you'd be worried about trying it prior to engine start. It's pretty routine to do a throttle sweep prior to engine start to check for free movement (I think it might even be part of the pre-engine run checklist on the Boeing flight line) - move the throttle forward and confirm you can't move the reverse lever...
