So I have no sympathy at all for those places that have ageist and racist policies, then complain that they don't have enough staff.
I can't speak for all the units, they all have their own polices but I do know age is not a factor at the UAE ACC, there are also quite a few different nationalities working there.

Unfortunately though race is an issue in this part of the world but you will find the people who are complaining about not having enough staff are the controllers on the floor, not the people who are actually doing the hiring.
It might also not be racism that is a factor in all cases, some nationalities don't have ICAO licenses which are required here and also controllers from some countries don't have the experience with traffic levels that is required.

It gets right on my t!ts when people can't come up with anything more constructive or sensible than, 'If you don't like it, leave'.
Hear hear, but it easy to throw mud from the sidelines.
