Tshan1, as a regular provider of LARS I often find myself asking "what examiner turned this idiot loose to fly solo?". Simply based on what some PPL holders ask and say on the r.t., you wouldn't trust them to cross the road safely by themselves. I'm sure some of them get from A to B in one piece more by luck than judgement.
My colleagues and I are often affected, particularly at weekends, by "LARS Tourettes" whereby the provider of the LARS is very calm and professional whilst transmitting information and instructions, but as soon as the PTT switch is released the foul, insulting and abusive language pours forth.
Whether this form of Tourettes syndrome is any indicator of whether a pilot is good or bad should be the subject of scientific research - probably carried out at great public expense by a university which is struggling to make ends meet
