Some perspective please, air band enthusiasts are overwhelmingly interested people who would no more be using a *transciever* to try and cause a crash than Flight Simmers are likely to be plotting to hijack an actual aeroplane.
It's positively encouraged in the US and the UK has never shown interest in cracking down as there is no public interest in any prosecution in any way shape or form from listening in. Indeed Flightradar24 and Planefinder give you way more data in real time.
