but am curious as to whether you consider CyanogenMod an exception to the rule?
With a stupid name like cyanogenmod, I'd be very wary of it in the first place...

Briefly perusing their description, they call it "an aftermarket firmware distribution for several Android devices".

So no. I don't see why they should be an exception ?
