Where I live, most printing is done on cheap Brother laser printers. They are in the public-access computer rooms and I have one. Reliability is good. I just bought a "house brand" toner cartridge for US$ 25.
I also have a fairly-old HP 7850 ink-jet. I understand that my HP has the print heads as part of the cartridges - one black and one three-color. I gave up on the previous two "other brand" ink-jets due to clogged jets ... threw the printers away. The HP hasn't had a clogged jet - though it is seldom used - and anyway I would just need to buy new cartridges - if my theory is correct.
