Keeping it relevant the Fragrant Harbour

Sky News UK, so a fist-full of NaCl required, are reporting that BA had done a risk assessment some months ago and elected not to overfly the Ukraine. They said 16 Asian airlines had elected to continue overflying the Ukraine. I wonder if CX was one of the 16?

I must say BA were a bit wimpish. What's the risk of overflying a warzone, given you maintain FL330? Who would have thought a bunch of numptys, backed by a superpower, could get their hands on a SAM capable of striking up to 70,000 feet. I guess all the "security experts", preoccupied by the threat from iPhones, iPads, and nail clippers, overlooked the threat from a bunch of 2nd world despots armed with 1st World weapons.

I wonder who BA sought advice from, Gary Powers perhaps?
