If i were in your position now, I'd go to one of these US universities that do degrees integrated with flight training. They cost quite a lot of money (and take 4 years), but it seems to me that there are potential advantages:
1. Foot in the door as far as the US immigration authorities are concerned
2. You get a degree
3. You get a CPL/IR
4. You meet a shed load of people from the US, including members of the opposite sex (marriage of convenience implications).
