Can you choose international?

I hope everyone is progressing well through the recruitment process! My question is about domestic vs international flying. With Virgin Australia Sydney based (current application) can/do you have a choice between flying domestic or international only?
Roughly how many days/nights are long haul and short haul away for each week?
