Even now, you are surely not proposing to fully disengage the autopilot and fly without stability at all? No, these days one is inevitably having to interact with the electronics at some level, it is just a matter of choosing the right level, and there no doubt resilience helps. With DB and I not even being able to agree on the use of the trim release, how can we possibly be expected to agree on the vastly more complex issues of the automation? (Although to be fair, we mostly do!).
