People will obviously make comparisons with MH370
You're right, no doubt they will but they would be wrong. No comparison to be made whatsoever for the simple reason that with this type of scenario the MH crew would have had time to communicate with ATC as did the UA in this case. In all previous fire related accidents crews were able to communicate with ATC, certainly in the first stages of the emergency.
