Just what sort of threat do these 'Jihadists' really pose? I'm sure they are capable of some mischief but policing them in the UK is the duty of...the Police, specifically Special Branches, and the Security Servoce. There will be some very limited and specialist military support, but that's it. Yasmine Alibhi-Brown wrote, in an otherwise sensible article in yesterday's Independent, 'that spying achieved nothing'. By this, we presume she means active and close surveillance of persons of interest in the UK. Actually, this 'spying' has been very, very successful in not only disrupting plots, but also bringing a number of would-be matyrs to justice.

As to the alleged presence of a CIA team - I think that this can be regarded - at best - as journalistic hyperbole and demonstrates scant understanding of the differing roles of intelligence and enforcement organisations.
