Perhaps in the world of 'diminishing' pilot ability we should remove all protections, maybe then pilot abilities would improve because going the opposite way seems to make things worse. Frankly I did not know that among regressing pilot "abilities" we should include such difficult and arcane tasks as "watch instruments" or "watch PAPI lights of the runway" or "start thinking when pulling 80 lbs on the yoke".
