Very good points but also worth noting is that Southwest used to pay Herb about $350,000 a year (though he got a lot of options too). That's my understanding, and the number could be wrong, but his base was ridiculously low compared with the rest of the industry.
Wait a minute, isn't SWA the only airline making a profit and the only one who said they wouldn't lay anyone off?
